Keep Kleiman and Weigand

On September 3 of this year, at the Chamber forum in Witte Hall, six council candidates were asked whether they favor residential rent control. Five raised a red card. Andrew Gerken raised a green one. He is entitled to that position.

What we are not saying

We are not saying the challengers are unserious people. Walter Stahr is a published historian. Andrew Gerken is a surgeon. We are not saying the council has been right about everything, and we have not asked either incumbent what they think of this endorsement. They do not control it and they did not authorize it.

We are saying that in a race decided by a few thousand reliable voters, the question worth answering is narrow: which of these people will vote the way this city has already said it wants to be governed. On the one issue where all six were asked to show a card, the answer is not ambiguous.

Keep Kleiman and Weigand.
